A perfect evening . . . for a perfect career! Last Friday night my school friends planned a retirement party that left my heart overwhelmed and humble. Every detail was thought through and in the end the night surpassed anything I could have imagined. I am so grateful to have been a part of my school for all these years . . . so thankful to have worked with a group of people that are caring and compassionate. People that are there for each other when it really matters . . . people that may disagree sometimes but always put the good of the children first. And all the kids over the years . . . I honestly could not have imagined working anywhere else!
It’s hard to believe it’s almost the last day of my career
I remember so clearly the first day of that first year
So many memories, that I will set apart
And will forever keep them safely tucked in my heart
So lucky I’ve been to have worked with people who care
Relationships that in most work places I’m sure are rare
And of course there’s the kids . . . some challenging most not
All I’ve ever wanted was to help give them the best shot
They really had powers . . . especially on days I was blue
A simple note, picture, or hug meant so much more than they knew
A tough job for sure but one I’ll treasure for ever more
But now it’s time to head west for the next opening door
