It's been a few weeks since I've been writing and sharing . . . where does the time go?!? Now just a few days before Christmas and I have a delightful "spirit of the season" story to share!
A friend and I were going to go to lunch and were unsure of the location of the place. It came upon us so fast that we missed the turn into the parking lot. I quickly looked up and told my friend to make a quick left at the corner and come back around to get into the parking lot. Unfortunately neither of us so the "no left turn" sign and very quickly a policeman that was directing traffic waved at us to pull over. I of course felt terrible because it was me who told her to turn left! The police officer went through all the usual items when one is pulled over, and told us he didn't have the ticket book to write the ticket so we would have to meet him at the police station in about 1 1/2 hours. We pulled into the lot for a quick lunch which of course neither of us could enjoy. My friend was most upset because she had not had a ticket in 40 years! I decided that I would go out to the officer and plead her case when I looked up and saw the officer. I waved him over to talk . . . plead her case when he handed my friend her license back. He told us that he checked her record and saw that she had an excellent driving record and would give her a pass. The two of us were so grateful we almost jumped up and kissed him! After he left we decided would buy he and his partner and gift card to the restaurant so they could enjoy lunch on us! We waved the office over to us once outside and tried to give him the gift cards. He told us that he could not except the "gift" but to pay it forward to someone in need! We decided to give it to my friend who works for Catholic Charities . . . he would be able to give the gift cards to a family in need. Such a nice ending to a not so nice lunch date!
Merry Christmas . . . Happy Holidays Everybody!
Inspire . . . A friend shared her blog with me which inspired me to dig deep inside and bring my thoughts onto paper...maybe I will pay it forward and inspire someone too! Thanks, Michelle!

Giving Thanks
Thanksgiving is a couple of days away and as most people, I like to reflect on all the wonderful things in my life that I'm thankful for. Trust me, I am so very thankful each and everyday but this time of year I make my list just to reinforce all of my blessings! Here is my list in no particular order-
~My family, how very lucky to have so many loving people in my life!
~Friends, which are my second family, people that know are only a phone call away.
~Of course I am so very thankful for my health, in fact I am now cancer free for 5 years!
~This wonderful life I have found here in New Mexico! So much beauty which I never tire of!
~The new people that have come in to my life here in New Mexico. So warm and kind.
~This blogging community . . . where I am fortunate enough to share my thoughts with so many wonderful, caring people and learn about others and their lives. So cool to feel connected with people I have never actually met face to face!

Looking Down . . . Instead of Up
For almost a year and a half since moving to New Mexico, I have been memorized by the beauty of seeing hot air balloons soaring through the sky! Many mornings, I look up and see these beauties floating ever so slowly creating a magical picture I never tire of! Of course Balloon Fiesta is the icing on the proverbial cake. I thought about taking a ballon ride, wondered if I ever really would and then friends came out to visit and said it was on their bucket list and well we decided why not?! The experience was so much more than I imagined it to be. It really is like floating, floating ever so slowly overlooking breathtaking views and the only sound is the propane firing to keep the balloon soaring! While I will continue to look up in awe at the beautiful balloons . . . the experience of looking down was in one word AMAZING!

Another Visitor Post
This has been an exciting month with so many visitors! Two of my granddaughters just left after a too short of a visit . . .but all visits are too short! We were able to fit in a few of my favorite activities and I'm happy to say they loved them as well. A visit to New Mexico would not be complete without a visit to Petroglyph National Monument as well the tour to the Acama Pueblo City in the Sky. We had beautiful weather which is always great with outdoor activities! The balloon picture is on the way to the airport . . . thought it was going to land on the road!

Peek Back on My Friend's Visit
The month of October has been and will be quite busy for us. Our home will be a revolving door with visitors! Our first visitor Jayne, came for Balloon Fiesta and luckily both times we went the weather was perfect! We had a great time visiting and as always time flew by. Here are some photos of her visit. Our next visitor comes in on Thursday . . .
I promised Jayne beautiful sunsets in our backyard and the sun gods did not disappoint!
A very early toast for the balloons!
Each morning during Balloon Fiesta there is what is called the mass ascension. Over 500 balloons fill the sky for what can only be described as amazing! This year we decided to try something a little different. We went to one of our favorite wineries for the mass ascension. They offered breakfast, mimosas and a beautiful view of the balloons. Two balloons actually landed right in front of us and were given a mimosa as well.
No trip would be complete without a visit to Petroglyph National Monument!
The ride through the Jemez Mountains to another one of my favorites . . . the natural hot springs!
High up on the Acama Pueblo . . . The City in the Sky!
The evening "glow" at Balloon Fiesta! The balloons stay tethered on the ground and fire up to make the glow!

Rodeo New Mexico Style!
This past week was State Fair New Mexico! What do you do at a State Fair but eat junk food and here in New Mexico it also means going to the rodeo. About 20 years ago or more my husband and I went to a rodeo, but the one at the state fair was awesome! There were 6 of us and we all agreed it was a blast. A young cowboy sitting next to me explained how the points are earned for each of the events. He was so excited to share his knowledge and I loved hearing it. The cowboys and cowgirls who do this for a living are tough and really talented. I highly suggest if you ever get a chance to see a live rodeo do it . . . I don't think you will be disappointed! Enjoy the photos . .

This the Season!
September, is Green Chile season in New Mexico! Cases and cases are sold around town with the added bonus of having them roasted for free! No need to worry if the store is equipped with a giant roaster, you just need to breath in and follow the sweet, sweet scent! Although we have embraced green chilies, buying a whole case . . . well just seems to be a bit much ;-)
What would a farmers market be without a green chili eating contest! This group of people each ate over a pound of very hot green chilies! The woman in the picture has been undefeated! The prize . . . a plastic trophy YIKES!
I just had to add the picture below . . . It was our first snake siting! Honestly, the snake was harmless as my husband I found out when we corralled it into a box to relocate it. We tried to research the type and came up with a couple of possibilities.

Last Days of Scotland and London
Our last stop in Scotland was Edinburgh. It was my favorite of all the cities we visited! From the heart of the city along Prince Street with the shops, pubs and gardens to the Royal Mile and of course Edinburgh Castle where we saw the awesome Military Tattoo! It was truly a memorable trip! Fortunately, we weren't finished as we then took a train to London! A pub crawl to one of the oldest pubs in London, The London Bridge, Kensington Palace and of course Harrods to name a few. We walked miles the three days we were in London and enjoyed every minute! Some photos to enjoy!
