Sniffle . . . Sniffle . . . Cough . . . Cough . . . Snort . . . Snort . . .
My heads spins to look at my husband . . .
PLEASE . . .
PLEASE . . .
PLEASE . . .
Not a C O L D!!!! Anything . . . REALLY . . . anything but a cold!
Don’t get me wrong I love my husband dearly, but when he gets a cold it’s like a 911 emergency 24/7. It’s always the same conversation . . . me giving suggestions to ease the cold symptoms . . . Start taking high doses of vitamin C and zinc. Try gargling with warm salt water. How about getting into a really hot shower and breathe in the steam? Do you want me to make you a doctor appointment? And always the same response . . . he telling me nothing will work! Or the never ending questions about how he contracted the cold in the first place ;-) Please don’t think I am unfeeling or insensitive . . . but to me a cold is just a nuisance . . . a nuisance that ends in 7 to 10 days. To my hubby it’s a far far worse sentence. . . I wonder is this a man thing?
Ha! It's not only your husband - mine is the same! Can we generalize and say "most" men? I've said all the same things and get the same answers. I feel for you.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I believe it is a man-thing. I hesitate to tell my husband when I am not feeling well as he will immediately come down with the same symptoms, only worse. I feel your pain, so sorry you have to endure this. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy husband woke with the "symptoms" yesterday morning. He, however, is pretty stoic. Takes his Mucinex and goes on. I am the baby! Partly because it goes to my chest every time, and I just can't stand that! So when he left for work today he gave me a fist bump instead of a goodbye kiss!
ReplyDeleteWOW it is good to know that SOME men can be strong through a cold! My husband "takes to his bed" and the "chair" with boxes of ONLY Puffs and claims NO medicine helps. He just needs to wait it out. I take COPIOUS amounts of Airborne at the first sign followed by vitamin C and Mucinex or whatever it takes to make the symptoms subside. I guess that is what happens when you are a working outside the house mom....you learn to not "be" sick even if you "are" sick!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, the "man" cold. I think we know a lot of men that can't handle the common cold even after offering numerous ideas to feel better. What are you going to do? Hang tight for the next couple days . . .
