Inspire . . . A friend shared her blog with me which inspired me to dig deep inside and bring my thoughts onto paper...maybe I will pay it forward and inspire someone too! Thanks, Michelle!

Reflections of Friday . . .
I'm quite certain the events of last Friday are and will be embedded in our hearts for many years to come. Each time a senseless tragedy such as this occurs, we talk about the sadness, the what ifs and the whys . . . as well as how to prevent these horrific events from happening again. Time passes, pictures fade and we carry on until . . . until it happens again . . . What are the answers? How can we prevent this from happening again? We talk about gun control, stiffer gun laws, different security measures and the mental health of people in this country . . . All I know is right now there are so many people who’s lives will never be the same . . . people who’s hearts will forever be broken . . . people who will never have the chance to live life . . . And there is nothing we can do to change that . . . My heart goes out to the people who have lost so much . . . and I hope they can find a way to “carry on” . . .

You said it. Life will pick up and go on with distant memories of that awful day . . . until it happens again. We can hope and pray that it never happens again, but it will never be certain with guns in the wrong hands. So many questions still swirling around in my head, yet no answer will ever be enough to explain the loss of those precious babies and teachers. I honestly don't know how I would do it. Lots of comfort, peace and acceptance to move forward one step at a time. It will take lots and lots and lots of time. Thank you for capturing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad but true that for many of us who are not directly impacted by tragedy and so unable to forget, our memory fades with the news coverage. I hope the idea of 26 Acts of Kindness will spread to keep our thoughts and prayers going out. As a nation, we must somehow face the issues of gun control and mental health and come up with some solutions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts and questions. As with any terrible event, we always want to know the why and how it could have been prevented, but as time passes, so does the memory fade until it happens again. Maybe this will be time when we can deal with these issues and find a way to resolve them. For now, we can keep these families in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI think we've reached a tipping point, Lynn. I am confident that change will come about. However, it's up to all of us to continue to apply pressure to our politicians so that they know we haven't forgotten. Now, more than ever, this matters.
