This past week was State Fair New Mexico! What do you do at a State Fair but eat junk food and here in New Mexico it also means going to the rodeo. About 20 years ago or more my husband and I went to a rodeo, but the one at the state fair was awesome! There were 6 of us and we all agreed it was a blast. A young cowboy sitting next to me explained how the points are earned for each of the events. He was so excited to share his knowledge and I loved hearing it. The cowboys and cowgirls who do this for a living are tough and really talented. I highly suggest if you ever get a chance to see a live rodeo do it . . . I don't think you will be disappointed! Enjoy the photos . .
Began with a huge display of fireworks!
Parade of the cowgirls.
The shute.
All I kept thinking was . . . oh my gosh your back!
There was even an event for little kids! Riding the mullets . . .

It is exciting to see one, but I always wonder how their bodies are later in life. They are so tough. Fun to see the pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe rodeo is great fun! And if you get a chance, go to a Cowboy Mounted Shooting event. It is fast-paced and exciting, too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful way to spend your day. My body hurt just looking at the pictures - I can only imagine how their bodies felt after their events!
ReplyDeleteNeat! I've never been to a rodeo - glad to see it through your eyes!
