If you have ever been torn by buying organic vs conventional when purchasing fruits and veggies. Here is some food for thought. When tested, the fruits and veggies on the "DIRTY DOZEN" list tested positive for at least 47 different chemicals, some testing positive for as many as 67. So, unless you relish the idea of consuming a "chemical cocktail" I would go organic!
The "DIRTRY DOZEN":
celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, sweet bell peppers, spinach, kale, collard greens, cherries, potatoes, grapes and lettuce.
The "CLEAN 15" showed very little or no trace of pesticides:
onions, avocados, sweet corn, pineapples, mango, sweet peas, asparagus, kiwi fruit, cabbage, eggplant, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapefruit, sweet potatoes and sweet onions.
Food for thought. . .
Thanks for the list! I just picked up a "baby organic food" book from the library this weekend! And we started the girls on the organic whole milk! Jon is into this too -- do you have any other book or website suggestions so that we can become more informed? It's definitely food for thought.
