Writing . . . sometimes the ideas just burst out of my head
Filling my page with words and thoughts that may never be said
So effortless . . . so easy . . . it’s such a surprise
That when I re-read my piece . . . there is little to revise!
But then there are the other times . . . like today
When there’s no words or thoughts to which I want to convey
It’s like a roadblock . . . a barrier inside my brain
And the harder I try, there are no words to obtain
So I’ll sit back . . . relax . . . and count to ten
And remember that my words will come back again
I’m sure I’ve not written. . . said all I need to say
And know that tomorrow is another day!
Lynn, for not being able to come up with something to write, you have a creative way of putting it into words & a poem. Sometimes, I think my fingers write more than my mind!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you wrote even though it was tough to put some words on the page. I think this is the sign of a true writer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with my mom! You sure were creative with the words that spilled out today even if it's about nothing to write!
ReplyDeleteI think is such an important struggle and battle to have to overcome because its a big reminder when the kids are sitting there in front of us saying, "I don't know what to write." Now we can remind them what we did -- just write and see what happens!
Glad you still wrote today!
When you can create a poem like this, you can't say you have nothing to write about. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your type of writer's block! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha I like Mandy's comment :)
ReplyDeleteIn a lot of the literature talking about using a writer's notebook with students it says to tell your kids to write about whatever is in their head even if it is "I can't think of what to write, there is nothing in my head etc." They say that this eventually leads to writing about something.
I think your post shows that this is true and it can actually lead to some great writing as it has here! A terrific example post for our students. Thanks
You inspire me, as usual, Lynn! I will mark the calendar Tuesday to slice - maybe I can rhyme like you??? :)
