FLash of Time

Wasn’t it just yesterday I was gearing up for a new school year
Missing summer, missing free time, missing life in low gear?!
Wondering how I would ever be able to get back in the groove
Now here it’s November . . . with the holidays quickly making their move!
But then time stops . . . deep freeze . . .  snow . . . all the weather I hate
Because all I want to do is stay home and hibernate!
Then ever so slowly, changes can be seen
The grass . . . the trees . . . are suddenly green!
I can feel it . . . I can smell it . . . I know it’s near
Soon I’ll be changing my glass of wine for an ice cold beer!
I begin gearing up for my favorite season of all
But in a flash . . . I’ll again be writing about the changes coming with fall!

  1. Time does march along, doesn't it? I like the rhythm & rhyme you've put into the poem. I just realized I'd better make a Christmas list & get going! Thanks, Lynn.

  2. I just mentioned this morning that it's November already - once again this year passed so quickly. The seasons come and go. I'm with you on the cold and snow - never ready for it. You have such a great way of writing. Thanks for the reminder about Christmas - it is coming soon!

  3. How does it seem to creep up on us? Without a sound? I can't believe it. I see the signs of the holidays in the stores already, but I've been ignoring it. I guess we can't anymore. It's coming and quickly. I love how you are thinking ahead of the promises to come -- ah, summer. Soon enough.

  4. Sweet writing as usual, Lynn! :) Hope you can find some joy in winter (did I show you my new snow book?) and keep a smile on your face until summer reappears. :)
