The first of many goodbyes . . .
Last weekend we went up to our camper with friends . . . it was going to be our last time there because we sold it since we won’t be taking it with us when we move to New Mexico. It didn’t really hit me until Sunday when I began clearing out the things we would take and organizing the items I would be leaving for the next owner. Everything I touched seemed to have a memory . . . I just kept thinking if only these walls could talk. So many memories . . . such great times . . .times spent with family and friends . . . It was always such a special get away . . .
As I locked the door for the last time, my dear friend looked at me and said “ are you sad” . . . are you ok? I hugged her and said “it just hit me that this is just the first of many goodbyes . . .
Goodbyes are always hard but they are usually also the start of something new. Good luck with all that is to come for you.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as we close one door another is opened for us. I remember when we moved away from IL to AR and the goodbyes. Even though they are difficult, the memories and friendships are still there and you have so much to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the image of the door closing to signify the chapter of your life closing. Goodbyes are always hard but lead to hellos If we let them.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling sad for you, but so excited for the new owners of the camper ... what great times they will have!
ReplyDeleteRemember... we won't be saying goodbye - we will be saying SEE YOU SOON!
I just sold our dear cabin earlier this year & understand exactly how you feel. It is sad, but hopefully New Mexico is a great place which may help you find new experiences.
ReplyDeleteOh Lynn, I actually got chills reading that last line that I WILL NOT, CANNOT, NEVER EVER say. I like the way Chris thinks: We'll see you soon. :)
