Stuff . . .

We all have heard the the old saying “you think you have problems until . . .” this past week I believe there is not a more true statement!  Numerous people I know are dealing with “stuff” . . . crappy . . . ?!?! “stuff”! It’s been a good reminder for me to appreciate the good days and quit whining about the small “stuff”! Not even because my sump pump went out and I had 3 feet of water in my crawl space ;-(   It’s a good kick in the pants to remember that just because someone’s not complaining, that doesn’t mean they aren’t going through really big . . . scary . . . crappy “stuff.”  Sometimes we get self absorbed and complain when really!?! there’s nothing to complain about. . .  I know that I am going to try harder to appreciate what I am so blessed to have, to focus on positive “stuff” in my life and stop whining about the “stuff” that is  minuscule in the grand scheme of life.  I don’t know maybe we all need a bit of a reminder . . . what do you think?

Winter 2014

Will this winter ever quit
No matter who you talk to they’re tired of it
More snow and cold then we have had in years
Not to mention the damage that many have fears
Each time it warms up just a bit
Out come the shovels cause again we’re going to get hit
Even the wildlife seem to be finding it rough
And it they could talk . . . they too would say they’ve had enough
But I’m trying to stay positive and go with the flow
But honestly I’m looking forward to being in New Mexico!

Writing

It’s been weeks since I’ve shared a slice of my day
I’ve been uninspired to what I would like to say
So today as I gently place my fingers on the keys
My eyes close tight looking for something that will please
How is it that sometimes so much to say . . . so much to share
Then for months no inspiration just feel like there’s nothing there
I think . . . . too much thinking is the key
And instead just letting my thoughts be open and free

Believe . . . There is a Santa!

Some 15 plus years ago just about the time when the “kids” in our family were on the fence about Santa, my sister and I decided we needed to bring Santa to our house.  A friend of ours knew Santa and said give him a call and so we did.  That call started a family tradition that everyone in our family will forever treasure.  Each year on Christmas night about 7:00 Santa would come with his little elf.  Santa always began with my sister, then each child in our family would sit on his lap and tell Santa how they had been. Santa would spend abut 30 minutes with us and he truly became part of our family!  Over the years his little elf grew up as did all of our children but Santa kept coming and this magical tradition continued.  No child was ever to old to sit on his lap and tell them how the year had gone.  Soon his little elf go married and had a little elf of her own . . .as did other elves in his family.  About 4 years ago it became too much for Santa, as his family had grown so big that he was needed there.  This magical tradition may be over but it’s a tradition that my family will never ever forget. So, if you don’t believe in the magic of Santa . . . I will have to disagree . . . because after all, I have proof that there is in fact a Santa!

Magic Skype

Do you want a fun way to teach geography?  Magic Skype may be what you are looking for.  If you're not familiar with Magic Skype it's a great way to team up with another class anywhere in the world and hone up your geography skills.  Each class comes up with "yes or no" questions in order to discover where each are located. The day you go "live" let the students be in charge and watch the fun happen!  My Tech Club students had a blast as did the students we paired up with in New York. Afterwards, I asked my students what they liked best about Magic Skype and of course it was seeing and talking to kids in another part of the country!  I just love seeing students have fun while learning ;-)
