The room falls silent as the directions are read . . .
No questions, so thinking begins in their heads
I’m happy to see strategies are used that have been taught
Teachers would be happy their lessons were not for naught
I sit and wonder if they had enough sleep
Cause now all I can do is take a backseat
One by one the pencils go down
Happy to see not a one had a frown
A successful start to the 4 days of “the test”
And all we want is for them to do their best!
Sounds like a good start to a day of testing!!! I always hope and pray that my kiddo had the beginnings of a good day before they even enter my classroom. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that you crafted a poem about it, and that the day was positive. It seems that your prep was worth the time, right?
ReplyDeleteDay one down and a good one for you and the kiddos! Testing is never fun for anyone, but when all goes well, it makes all the preparation worthwhile. Hope today is as good.
ReplyDeleteWe start ours this week too! Just do their best - that is all we can ask! Good luck with the rest of yours!
ReplyDeleteAs hard as it is to take the backseat, it's amazing to see how the children do try their very best! Show us what you can do! And isn't it exhausting doing nothing?!? Hang in there and keep positive!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your gift for rhyme, I'd speak in all the time! :) Glad the kids are keeping their chins up. I think this week is harder on the adults.
