Another good-by . . .

Yesterday was my last Tech Club session for the year . . . well forever really.  I have been in charge of this club for about 10 years now.  The format for the club is pretty laid back and yesterday was no exception.  There was a lot of chatting and blogging and chatting some more as we celebrating the last day.  Last night as always I went to comment and read the blogs of the students.  There were quite a few students that blogged about the fact it was the last day of Tech Club.  I read the comments, there were few words, but those words . . . wow they made a big impact!  It really felt good to read how much they enjoyed the projects we did and really just thought it was a lot fun!  I reflected how Tech Club is a small and relaxed setting.  I thought how beneficial it would be for student learning if class sizes were kept small and cozy . . . probably not too realistic, but sure would be nice.

  1. That kind of class and atmosphere screams engaging learning! If only ... but I'm so glad that you were able to provide that to many of our students during the club. A bittersweet kind of ending.

  2. Tech club is a definite favorite time for the kiddos. We could learn a lot more about kids in this comfortable environment!

  3. Someday your dream could become a reality. If we don't dream it, there is never that possibility. Clubs are just what some kids need to help keep them engaged.

  4. It might not be realistic, but it would be helpful. Imagine how much more comfortable kids would be with their teacher and peers if things were smaller and tailored towards their interests.

  5. Sometimes realistic doesn't exist in education...but we can still hope! Your club sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you students. I have found that kids really enjoy blogging - I just wish more teachers did!

  6. This has been a wonderful way to connect with your students. You care and show that care by helping with the Tech Club. The small setting may not be realistic, but I think the kids (and teachers) would really benefit from smaller class sizes. Have a great spring break!

  7. Why is the tech club disbanding "forever?" This sounds like a lovely idea.
