Chelsea Market

In an earlier post I mentioned one of the best things about being retired is the ability to be spontaneous!  Heck that's how we ended up coming to New York.  Well when we were getting ready to go back home it happened again.  We were to take the red eye Friday night.  However, about 3 hours before we were to leave I looked at my sister and said, "hey why do we have to leave? Lyndsey is off the next couple of days. Let's see if we can change out tickets and stay through the weekend!" And we did! So instead of returning to beautiful New Mexico, we went to a yummy brunch with one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had and from there we went into Manhatten to Chelsea Market, An  unbelievable place with wine bars, bakeries, mini mart with food from all over the world, coffee shop, tea store, a donut shop with a 20 minute wait for a donut, a chocolate store, a meat market, fish market including a lobster store!  An amazing experience which I highly recommend to if you are planning a trip to New York.

New York Vitners . . . Wine Tasting and Class

Last night we had an awesome time taking a wine class at New York Vitners!  A wine store that also hosts a variety of wine classes.  Light snacks, along with a lot of information about wine . . . I never knew there were so many different grapes that produced the various wines!  And of course tastings of delicious wine.  Heavy snow during the day couldn't keep us away and so glad it didn't.  Only half the class showed up due to the weather, so the atmosphere  was much cozier and best of all more wine to taste :-). I've always wanted to learn more about wine so this was a great start!

Our set up to start.

My niece, sister and me enjoying the night!

A Few Words By Kiki

Hi let me introduce myself, my name is Kiki.  I live in New York with my mom Lyndsey.  I've been watching my Aunti blog all week so I asked her if I could give it a shot!  About 6 years ago my mom rescued me from a shelter.  That was the greatest day of my life!  You see I had a a little problem a problem  that caused people to keep sending me back.  But not my mom, she felt she made a commitment and I was not going back.  My Aunti Lynn helped my mom "fix" my problem by asking everyone she knew who had cats what she could do.  Finally they got the answer that helps me. So now everyday I take some medicine that my mom wraps in a treat that I love!  My mom is the greatest!  She is so loving and caring!  I love having my aunts here visiting because they give me extra treats when my mom is at work.  It sort of is exhausting watching them clean though so I will need to take a nap I think.  Thanks for allowing me to share my slice this month!

Cleaning Day

My sister and I have been coming to New York to see my niece ever since she attended NYU some 9 years ago.  Every time we came we liked to take a little time helping her "spring clean" no matter which season it was!  However, about 3 years ago my cousins decided to join us on our New York trip which meant no spring cleaning, just fun in the city.  This year just my sister and I came because we really wanted to help my niece with some stuff.  If you have ever spent time in a New York apartment you know the space is small and creativity is a must.  Yesterday was our day to help my niece as she had to go to work.  My sister and I got up very early saw my niece off and began to tackle the kitchen.  We reorganized the cabinets, washed them inside and out and did her laundry.  All our efforts were so worth it because of the look on her face when she walked in the door!  It's nice to do for your children no matter how old and independent they are!

The View

Yesterday morning we woke up very early so we could get to The View show!  Directions were to get there early, dress warm because you will be waiting outside and dress in lively colors.  We followed two of the directions. . .  Got there early and dressed warm (winter clothes are mostly dark colors :-). Honestly, waiting outside wasn't bad and we were actually let in and given a bottle of juice and a bag of Chex Mix after about 45 min.  Once let in we waiting in a sort of holding tank for about one hour until being brought in to the studio.  Once in the studio, directions are given so we knew when to clap and scream!  We were told we would leave with more than we came with . . .but don't get to excited it was the new Disney Movie!  It was  fun and interesting watching the show from the "other side".
