The call came last night . . . the call that we would have a snow day. . . I was hoping it would not come . . .
but it did . . . as we are expecting a major winter storm! I know, I know I’m probably the only person on the planet who isn't excited about a snow day! I’m used to people looking at me like I have 3 heads when I say this...so go ahead I can take it. I’ll tell you why I’m not a fan . . . first of all it’s not a free day . . . . come June we will have to give it back . . . I’m not a winter kind of gal, so to spend the day shoveling doesn’t sound so appealing. And I’m sure I’ll spend time today doing some work . . . work that I planned to do today anyway. My “hip hip hooray” will be in June when the weather is warm, the sun shining and I am sitting on my deck enjoying the anticipation of the beginning of summer!

This is how I usually feel about snow days as well. I am a little disappointed this week though because it would have been nice to have the day to do report cards :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Each snow day is a day of summer I miss. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteLynn, I have to agree! What's killing me as I woke up this morning there was not a snowflake to be found! I think this was an epic snow fail and we are not even going get what was originally thought. Grrr . . . dumb meteorologists! (Sorry if there are any out there reading this!) The news always has to blow everything up exponentially!
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, enjoy your snow day. Read a little, relax a little, exercise a little, eat a little, and enjoy it a little. That's all we can do now!
Ah yes, June. That add-on day will be a bummer. I do admit, I appreciate the ability to roll over this morning and sleep until 9:00. We all needed it here.
ReplyDeleteHope you will enjoy some quiet, relaxing time today!
I'm with you, too. We lost most of winter and spring break due to Sandy...losing summer days would just stink.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more......I thought we would make it through without having to use one, but should have known better. We can never, ever count on anything when living in the Chicago area......
ReplyDeleteThe call sounds like what they do here in the Ozarks - the weathermen say that nasty four letter word and everything closes. But, from the news tonight, it sounds like you did get snow after all. Hope you got to enjoy your day even though it will mean an extra day in June.
