Winter

winter, winter please go away
snow
cold temps
grey skies
hibernation
I yearn to see . . .
the sun
green trees
animals scurrying
flowers all in bloom
I need to feel . . .
sun’s warmth on my skin
soft green grass under my feet
soil as I plant tender herbs in my garden
my legs pumping my bike through the forest
I need to hear . . .
splashing of cool water in the pool
ice cubes slowly melting as they cuddle my Corona Lites
birds waking me up . . . even when it’s before dawn
summer, summer please come back!

  1. And, soon we will see all of that (us before you). Spring will be here - a time of renewal and awakening after a long winter. And then comes summer and we'll be begging for cooler temps and lower humidity. Are we ever content with the season we're in? Once again you have written a great poem.

  2. Oh, spring do come soon! We are seeing glimpses with the sunshine, blue skies and melting snow! I also noticed in my backyard tinges of green on the rose bushes and growth emerging through the snow from the ground! It's coming!
